Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
In addition to subject matter exploration and instruction, Waipahu El uses SEL (social-emotional learning) to help students acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Our Choose Love Program teaches our students how to change an angry thought to a loving one, and to live a life filled with “Courage + Gratitude + Forgiveness + Compassion-in-Action.” Learn More about the Choose Love Movement.
