About Us

Waipahu Elementary School, WES, is the oldest of five elementary schools in the Waipahu Complex, which includes an intermediate school, high school, and an adult community school.  Continuing the traditions began in 1899, to educate children of immigrant plantation families, today of goal is to educate children of diverse multicultural background to achieve high standards.

As a Title I school, Waipahu Elementary implements a standards based teaching and learning using nationally benchmarked Common Core standards and the Hawaii Content Performance. Through focused articulation and planning times, WES teachers make data driven decisions on adjustments to curriculum, instruction, and assessments that prepare students to meet grade level benchmarks.

The campus is located on both sides of Waipahu Street.  Our monkey pod tree located in the center of our campus is considered to be the gathering place of the school.  The campus contains six classroom buildings and seventeen portable classrooms.  During the 2014-2015 school year, a new classroom building added eight classrooms, a computer lab, and a faculty center to accommodate a growing student population.  Other facilities include an office, library, cafeteria, outdoor stage, multi-use field and basketball court.

Working together enables our school community to meet the needs of our diverse student population and serve the Waipahu Community in the time honored fashion established over the last 100 years.
